Waredaca Horse Trials

Hey guys!
So Waredaca Horse Trials officially wrapped up my competition season. My students still have Rubicon to look forward to, but as for myself the long year has come to an end.

Baby Argie was Reserve Champion of the Area 2 Novice Championships. He got a stellar 24.7 in dressage. His show jumping was much better then it has been in the past and he had just one baby mistake with a rail. His XC was perfect as usual and despite the rail he finished in 2nd on a 28.7! Amy and Ricky competed in the Preliminary division. They had a good dressage with many improvements! Mr. Ricky was FANTASTIC in the jumping phases even saving Amy at the first show jump. They had two rails and some time faults but finished 8th with a beautiful XC. I could not be happier with Amy and Ricky's progress in the XC they made it look easy and added to their confident clean rounds this year. Erica and Carrie had a great dressage in the Open Training finishing 5th after the dressage phase. I was most happy with their Show Jumping as I saw so much progress in the way Carrie was jumping the fences. Erica ended up starting her XC round in the most severe of the down pours. The wind and rain made the already tough XC not ride well for most of her division. Although the round wasnt perfect I was so proud that Erica got Carrie around and finished despite the horrible weather and having no studs. This pair makes such a great team and I am sure we will see many successes in their future.

Everything around the barn is going great! Krisie and I are enjoying a much more relaxed schedule (Starbucks runs) now that show season is simmering down. Tika is loving her well deserved vacation. We are gearing up for the Nov. 14th bonfire party and of course everyone heading to Rubicon Horse Trials. We are all cheering Gilbert on in the WMZQ cutest pet in costume constest. Make sure you all vote!

Stay tuned for all the upcoming posts and results.

2008 Competition Season

Now everyone at Angleica Run and all of our friends and supporters can stay up to date on everything that is happening with our riders and horses.

The 2008 year has been successful and exciting for everyone at Angelica Run. We have added many new clients and horses to our team. We are happy to have the Jacquay family and their horse Carrie, the Sherrill family and their horse Gracie, and the Detore family with Raider join us in the last couple months. I am so thrilled to pick up many new students including Mary, Laura, Tess, Liza, Courtney, Erica, Lauren, and Kathleen. We also have had two new additions to my immediate collection. Clayton Voss and Kevin O'Conner purchased Argento the 7 year old TB gelding who has been super successful with Skyeler, Krisie, and Erin in the 2008 event season. Of course the favorite addition to Angleica Run is Gilbert Goat. Gilbert has had quite the year himself with a HUGE fan club and celebrity appearances on the Hot 99.5 Kane show.

I am so happy to finally be wrapping up a very long but otherwise awesome season with my horses. Tika has had a stand out year at the Intermediate level. Her top placings this year include a 3rd in the OI division at River Glen Horse Trials in Tenn. She was 2nd in the Kentucky Classique CIC**, won the Middleburg Horse Trials with the low score intermeidate horse trophy, and finished with a top 20 placing at the Fair Hill CCI**. Tika made the USEA overall leaderboard in the top 10 mares where she currently stands 4th in the country! Matus had a struggle with Lymes disease over the summer but came back this fall to finish in the top 3 at every Preliminary he ran. His highlights include 2nd at the River Glen Horse Trials, 3rd at the Virginia Horse Trials, 2nd at the Kentucky Classique CIC*, and 3rd at the Marborough Horse Trials. Matus will be going up for sale this winter as I believe he will be better suited for a young rider or adult amateur who wants to move up the levels. Argento has had great placings at the Novice level with a 4th at Maryland Horse Trials, 6th at Surefire Horse Trials, and 2nd at the Marborough Horse Trials. As the season is wrapping I am currently sitting 31 on the top 50 riders list and am so thankful for my wonderful horses who helped to get me there!!

On the student front I am so excited to annouce that Amy Giordano has moved up to the Preliminary level with her horse Ricky. Amy has been my student for the past 5 years and I have watched her since her beginner novice days with her bratty little pony Mayflower. She has done an incredible job with her horse Ricky and they both have never looked better. She won both the Fair Hill OT division and the Training/Prelim division at Waredaca. She then moved up to Prelim with a 7th place finish at CDCTA and a 6th place at the challening Middleburg Horse Trials. Amy with be aiming for the Virginia CCI* and the NAYRC this summer. Erin and Cocoa have had beautiful outtings at the Novice level with a 3rd place finish at Difficult Run Horse Trials and a 4th place finish at Seneca Valley Horse Trials. Cocoa had some heath issues this summer but is returning to the competition ring. I took her to the Dominion Valley Horse Trials last week where she had winning scores in dressage and clean XC and SJ. Erin and Cocoa will be aiming to move up to Training in the spring. Izzy and her horse Owen are starting to figure eachother out and become a beautiful team. Izzy has had two 4th place finishes with him this season and has dominated the dressage phase with a 25 in her last dressage test at Dominion Valley Horse Trials. I look forward to this pairs success in the future and am so proud of the rider that Izzy has become this year. Petie and Tally have had a great start this fall. They finished 8th at the Difficult Run Novice and 2nd at the Dominion Valley Novice. Erica and Lauren are just joining us this season. Erica and Carrie have had great rounds at the Training level and I look forward to helping this talented pair in the upcoming seasons. One of my biggest excitments this year is Lauren and Gracie. Gracie came to me this summer and was almost unridable. We spent all summer working on this lovely mare and now she and Lauren are a beautiful team. They will be aiming for beginner novice in the spring. I know theses updates are long but I will stay on top of all the competition results as they are happening in the future. I am so proud of everyone of my students and cannot wait for the 2009 season to start.

As everyone knows I hired Krisie Southern to help me manage my horses and business for the upcoming year. Krisie has been so crucial in all of the success at Angelica Run. I could not do half the teaching or riding I do without her help. She has been a fantastic groom at all of my big outtings this year and has held the barn together when I have had to leave for travel. Along with the horse management success she has been competing Argento this season and has won EVERYTHING she has done with him. She was the low score winner at the Cedar Run Dressage Show and won the Beginner Novice division at Dominion Valley Horse Trials. She will be competing Argie at Rubicon in the Novice and I know she will do fantastic.

Finally I would like to mention all of the wonderful help I have gotten for my horses this season. I believe that I owe most of my success this year to the vets, farriers, and trainers that have looked after my horses and my students horses. Broadrun Vet Service and Brian Grady Farrier Service have done such a fantastic job keeping our horses healthy and happy. I have changed my training program around this year and began working with Jan Byyny and Sallie Spenard. The combination of their experience in jumping and dressage have made all the difference in my horses performances this year. Sallie has helped everyone of us at Angelica improve our dressage scores and we owe her a big thanks for the drive she does up from Fredricksburg every week.

I know this post is long but it is just the beginning of our new blog. I hope it helps everyone stay up to date and in touch with all the exciting happenings at Angelica Run Farm.

Get excited about the upcoming Bonfire Party and Washington International Night. We also have Waredaca Horse Trials and Rubicon Horse Trials left this season!
